The Goblin Horde
「Well then, once we finish off Lilia, the goblins are next.」 (Izayoi)
「Stop joking around. I’m going to live, right?」 (Lilia)
I put on my equipment and left well-prepared.
「Wait a moment, are you ignoring me? You’re going to act as if I'm dead?」 (Lilia)
「We’ll fight in place of Lilia, who was killed.」 (Izayoi)
「You set me as being killed didn’t you? You say things like that pretty often you know.」 (Lilia)
The sunlight faded, and it had become night. Why is it that all the troublesome things happen at night?
I haven’t even eaten yet. I want to hurry up and finish this, then eat.
「Rigolo, can you fly with four people on your back? If it’s impossible, then I’ll go on foot.」 (Izayoi)
「*Kuke, Kukeke!*」 (Rigolo)
「Maybe, riding possible.」 (Tear)
「Yaay! We’re flying on the fluffball!」 (Uri)
Although it was a bit tight, we all rode on Rigolo’s back.
「......We might fall, so hold onto my chest tightly.」 (Reri)
「If that’s all I need to do then I wouldn’t worry even if I were to hold onto Uri. I wouldn't be injured even if I fell from a high alt.i.tude. There’s no problem.」 (Izayoi)
「......Master’s physique must be that of a superhuman. I want to investigate your body for the sake of research.」 (Reri)
「I refuse.」 (Izayoi)
「Let’s hurry up and go! Fly!」 (Uri)
「......Ichayoi.」 (Tear)
It’s getting really noisy. I’ll have to deal with this for about 10 more days?
「Well then, let’s go.」 (Izayoi)
「*Kuke!*」 (Rigolo)
「As I thought, it’s as if I were dead. Will I disappear tomorrow?」 (Lilia)
Relying on the illumination from the sky, we soared through the skies. We should be around 70 kilometers away from Geruna Valley.
Although we don’t know where the goblins are coming or where they're going, we’ll find them if we look around. There's a swarm of them after all.
Listening to Uri who was in high spirits, we pa.s.sed through the woodlands. Crossing the Prairie Forest, we could hear a rumbling noise coming from the craggy wastelands.
(Astrea, can you tell me the situation?) (Izayoi)
『I’ll give it a try............There’s a swarm of them two hills over!』 (Astrea)
Considering our location, we’re heading that way I see. If it were to be left as is, I’ll have to fight them at some point. It’ll be better if I can deal with this quickly.
I faced the direction of the goblin horde. I should be able to see them on the other side of the hill. I started to feel the squirming magic coming from the monsters.
This is pretty big I guess. Crossing over the hill, I finally saw their figures.
「There’s a huge amount of them! I’m getting a bad feeling!」 (Uri)
The ground was covered with their red colored eyes. The area was completely occupied by the squirming horde. There were hundreds of thousands. Getting rid of this is going to be real difficult.
I can easily cut small fry in two with a light swing of my sword, but how will I deal with this many enemies? In my case, I don’t have many different abilities to fight with.
If there was a high ranking magician that hit them with a few large scale spells, I might be able to destroy them in one go, but with a magic-imbued sword the best I could do would be to take out a few of them at a time.
「Hey, can you two use large scale magic?」 (Izayoi)
「We can’t! Uri and Reri can’t use anything but concealment magic!」 (Uri)
This is troublesome. Do I have any other choice aside from a ridiculous amount of fighting?
Even though I had no magic to use, I began to locate someone within the horde.
There, that one is leading them.
There stood a goblin three times the size of a normal one. A Goblin King. If I take that guy down, I’ll be happy if it intimidates the other goblins into retreating. For the time being, let’s give it a go.
「I’ll be going down there to take out the Goblin King. The rest of you be on standby in the sky.」
「......Ichayoi, be alright?」 (Tear)
「Ah, it’ll be fine. If defeating the Goblin King doesn’t stop the rest of them, then we’ll have no choice but for all of us to fight them off. Until that time comes, wait here.」 (Izayoi)
「Understood! We’ll be good children and stay here!」 (Uri)
「......Take care.」 (Reri)
I hung off of Rigolo’s back and felt the wind envelop my body. As I was calculating the time to jump, Astrea suddenly called out to me.
『Izayoi! I can feel a bit of Fiere-chan’s magic! It’s near this area!』 (Astrea)
(The Wind Fairy? In a place like this?) (Izayoi)
『I’m sure she’s here, but it’s really faint. If you don’t hurry, it’ll be bad!』 (Astrea)
(Alright, got it. Search for her location.) (Izayoi)
If the Wind Fairy is here, then she’ll take priority. I continued for a short while through the wasteland. There's still time before the goblins descend on human territory.
『She’s probably that way!』 (Astrea)
「Our objective has changed. Rigolo, go the other way.」 (Izayoi)
We headed towards the indicator Astrea placed.
「This is bad! There’s a girl over there! She seems to be under attack!」 (Uri)
In front of the goblin horde was a little girl trying to run away. Even now the goblins were about attack her with their cudgels.
「*Hawawa!* I’m cornered! I’m in a pinch, a pinch!」 (Wind Fairy)
(TN: Hawawa... Go look it up.)
Her outwards appearance was that of an ordinary little girl. She didn’t have wings sprouting from her like the other fairies.
「*Hawawa, hawawawaa!* Save me! Save meeee!」 (Wind Fairy)
Fiere was running away from the goblin horde.
Although she was frantically trying to escape, she was probably at her limit, and collapsed onto the ground.
「*Hawawa, hawawaaaa......*」 (Wind Fairy → Fiere)
As she was on the verge of being swallowed up by the horde, I jumped off of Rigolo’s back and hit the ground running, and took Fiere into my arms.
Without stopping their feet, the goblins continued advancing in the same direction as before.
In regards to the speed of the goblins, there was no way for them to catch up. We were able to rescue Fiere.
「*Hawawa......* Eh? How?」 (Fiere)
「You’re fine now. Don’t worry Fiere.」 (Izayoi)
「W-who are you? ......This feeling, c-could it be? Oniichan!?」 (Fiere)
