Because they messed with the wrong country. The country of Bellor will not fall.

✮ ✮

Third-person POV

It's been a few days since the murder and the houses just arrived. News spread like wildfire all throughout the country that the King was dead. It also reached their rivaling country Archerton. Apparently, there had been an attack also. They burned innocent cities, took supplies, and also raided the palace. Thankfully the palace here wasn't raided. Out of the two countries our country had the strongest army. There were two major countries and Archerton and Bellor just happened to be right next to each other.

It happened almost 200 years ago...

Meredith Valentine was heir to the throne of Bellor. She was due to be married off to the Prince of Archerton. Giovani Sangiovanni. The marriage was supposed to be a peace treaty between the two countries. There was a problem though Meredith had a secret lover. He was the son of a poor bakery owner. His name was Ethan Dunbrook. The Night before Meredith and Giovani were due to marry, Meredith disappeared. Never to be seen or heard from again. That night Ethan also disappeared. n.o.body knows how Meredith got past the guards and she couldn't have climbed out of the window because her room was on the 4th floor. After the two disappears the country of Archerton broke off the treaty and since then both countries never got along.

Anna's POV

We all just sat in silence in our new little meeting room. All of us sat in a circle while Ava just laid on her bed staring at the ceiling.

"Soooo.." Brook started. She was always the peacemaker. Mostly between Ava and whoever got in an argument with.

"Rawrrr." Rachel said while getting in Brooks's face. We all started laughing, but there was one person who didn't.

Ava.

As if on cue her phone rang and she fell out of bed. And by fell I mean she literally fell. That just made Rachel and Brook laugh even harder to the point where they couldn't breathe. I went over to her and helped her up. She made a loud sound that sounded like a groan while sitting up. She muttered a quick thanks while reaching for her phone. She took one look at the screen and through her phone across the room. With that, she stormed out of the room, clearly shaken up. I went over and retrieved her own phone. She had one missed call from a number I didn't recognize.

"Hey does anyone know this number," I asked holding the phone out for them.

"No." Cam was shaking her head. The phone rang again. And again. And again. I turned the phone on silent and set it on the nightstand next to her bed.

"Should we wait for her?" Brook asked.

"Probably," I said taking a seat.

Third Person POV

Hours pa.s.sed and Ava still didn't return. Everyone was soon falling asleep until they heard the door open with a loud BANG.

Ava came in puffy-eyed and had tear streaks that stuck to her cheeks. She didn't move from her spot in the doorway and neither the girls we from the bed. She mumbled something incoherent and quickly s.n.a.t.c.hed her phone and left again.

"Well, that wasn't a bit suspicious at all," Anna said looking between everyone.

Rachel's POV

I quickly walked down the halls in search of Ava. It was almost 3 am and she still hadn't returned. Me being me obviously stayed up. Not for Ava, but because I'm a night owl. Though I suppose I should be more sleep considering I have to get up at 7 every day.

Soon enough I find my self in the entrance hallway of the palace. My slippers making no sound on the white marble floor. The moon illuminated the hallway from the sunroof. It gave the hallway an almost ghastly feeling. Sure enough, I see Ava sitting on the front steps, head in her hands.

"Hey." She looked up at me. It was hard to tell if she was crying or not because of the balconies overhead. The only light was the moon illuminating the grounds.

"Hey." She replied softly. I quietly sat down next to her. When we were together we were never silent but at this moment neither of us said anything. We lapsed into a comfortable silence for a few minutes till I spoke up, "Who called you."

That earned a sigh from her as she lifted her back up.

Now I could see her. Her eyes were red and puffy still. Though it looks like the stopped crying. She wore a simple baby blue tank top with matching silk white shorts with blue and pink flowers. Her hair was a complete mess. It looked like it was just resting on top of her hair. A few stray curls escaped and we're falling down her back. Compared to me she looked like a supermodel. I wore thin black leggings with my dad's slippers I stole that had holes. I completed the look with an old tee shirt from when we were 10. My black hair was pulled back into my signature ponytail.

"It was my stepmother." She sighed again rolling her eyes while continuing to stare at the stars.

"Seriously?!"

"Yup she wanted me to come to a baby shower."

"Whos?" Now I was generally intrigued now.

"Hers and my dads."

"WHAT!" I yelled so loud that any birds that were sleeping flew out of the trees and into the sky.

"I mean it makes sense. My parents divorced when I was 4. Then I was 12 when he got remarried to her. I'm almost seventeen. They've been married for years I'm not surprised the did the deed."

"d.a.m.n. I'm sorry."

She looked at me. Pain clearly wrote on her face.

"It's fine I was never really close with my dad. He's a pain in everyone's a.s.s."

"No s.h.i.t." I mumbled hoping she didn't hear me, but she did. At that, she laughed. Though she would never admit it I knew her dad verbally abused her. h.e.l.l, he even did it during her marriage to her mom. If the two stayed together then the house would be a toxic place for Ava and she wouldn't be who she is today.

"What are you wearing?!" She asked now taking in my appearance.

"My dad's slippers."

"G.o.d we need to get you new clothes."

"Says the one who is a hot means and still looks hot."

"Right." She said rolling her eyes.

"Can we not mention this to anyone."

"Sure."

Little did we know someone had heard our whole conversation.
