He had a feeling that the woman was bipolar or maybe on her red days. Today more than any other day she was exceptionally annoying.
Lei Xinyi held his arm with her other hand, digging her nails in his arm.
She pa.s.sed him a sickly sweet smile, and sarcastically said, "Because I am a maniac, that's why!"
Li Yuan glared at her but did nothing to free his arm as they had reached the front door of the dining room.
The Butler opened the door for them to enter. To onlookers, it looked like the couple was affectionate and therefore so close to each other.
As they entered, everyone except Old Master Li stood up to greet them.
They reached the sitting area and Madam Lu leaped toward Lei Xinyi and hugged her excitedly like a high school girl. Lei Xinyi awkwardly hugged her back.
She pulled away and held her both hand and exclaimed, "I am so happy for you. I knew you both were meant to be."
'Meant to be my foot!'
Lei Xinyi pa.s.sed her a fake smile in return as she really didn't know what to say. Li Yuan did all the boisterous talking.
Lei Xinyi looked at him through hooded eyes. It was no wonder he climbed such heights at this young age. He had a tongue of silver and Midas touch in his hand.
For a moment even she wondered if she was really not pregnant.
Master Lu came toward her and hugged her to his chest too, and whispered to her, "I am so proud of the woman you have become."
She smiled at him and gave a hug to Lu Han and Lu Sheng too who told her that it wasn't too late to decide to be a single mother.
Lei Xinyi gave them fake smiles too, then greeted all the other elders, and sat down next to Li Yuan, who was sitting beside the Head of the table where Old Master Li was seated.
On the other side of the Head of the table, Old Madam Li was seated and beside her was Madam Li.
Beside Lei Xinyi, Madam Lu was sitting. The dining hall was mainly calm, and they were making small talks.
Lei Xinyi stayed quiet and occasionally pa.s.sed a short reply when someone bothered her.
Old Madam Li and Madam Li were fairly calm except for the subtle glares. And apart from that Madam Lu was a very expert conversationalist.
Like at one point Old Madam Li laughed to lighten the mood and commented.
"Well, you Madam Lu really has a big heart, I mean it isn't a norm to really tolerate the illicit affairs of your husbands much less bring up the constant reminder of it."
Old Madam Li really had a way with words, in one sentence she called Lei Xinyi a b.a.s.t.a.r.d, Madam Lu a weak woman, recalled Master Lu affair and called Madam Li a cruel and heartless woman for driving her son's illegitimate son out of her house.
But Madam Lu was a smart, a true socialite and knew what to say.
She pa.s.sed a smile, "We have none to give credit but Lu Xinyi. I never had a daughter, and I always wanted a daughter. She was a pleasant addition to the family."
Lei Xinyi who had her fist clenched in anger was surprised by her diverting answer.
Old Madam Li toasted, but it was obvious her smile was fake. She didn't like being dodged just as much as she didn't like being talked back.
Lei Xinyi wasn't allowed alcoholic drinks as she was 'pregnant' Furthermore, every few minutes somebody was putting things on her plate.
She was really keeping her temper in check. She didn't like anybody adding or taking out things from her plate.
But according to them, they were feeding the upcoming 'addition' to the family.
When Li Yuan did it he did it discretely so she didn't bother telling him off but this was getting on her nerves.
Just as she was about to snap at someone, the clicking sound of gla.s.s with a spoon turned everyone's attention to Old Master's Li who was standing at the head of the table with a smirk.
"I would request everyone's attention on this fortunate day." Although it was anything but a request, a dormant dominance was evident in his voice. Everyone turned to him.
"As you all know we will be welcoming a new member to the family so we will be hosting an early wedding by 5th of next month." Old Madam Li announced with pride.
Everybody in the room cheered and drank up to a happy marriage.
Lei Xinyi fist clenched under the table, and her eyes widened. She abruptly turned her head to Li Yuan, who didn't have a flicker of surprise on his face but was happily drinking.
So he knew and consulting in her was far he didn't even bother informing her.
Madam Lu at that moment pa.s.sed her a non-alcoholic Virgin Mary to drink, which Lei Xinyi took with a smile.
She drank it and excused herself to go to the restroom. She picked her clutch and went ahead, following the maid who was guiding her in.
The washroom was lavish, s.p.a.cious, and soundproof. Lei Xinyi smirked and shut the door.
She checked the place for a voice tractor or something but found none, such luck!
She at once took out the phone Lei Xinyi had taken out from Madam Lu's purse and dialed a non-traceable number.
She didn't have a photographic memory but numbers of such people she did remember by her heart.
The phone ringed for a while then was picked on the last bell.
"Who the f*ck it is?" came a slurring voice from the other side.
Lei Xinyi cursed her luck for not calling in a better time. But it was her only time and the best time she could afford.
Who knows how they were going to bind her in a marriage if she didn't escape.
"You know where I am, He Jin?" Lei Xinyi asked in a little loud voice.
"Lei Xinyi!" Lei Xinyi heard the voice of a drink slurping voice. He would have spat his drink, "How did you even think for a moment that I didn't!"
Lei Xinyi smirked hearing his arrogant voice, "Good Saves me the trouble of bullsh*tting. You owe me a favor which I will be collecting."
Lei Xinyi heard a mocking laugh from the other end, "And here I thought being the Li boy's f*ck b*tch was a high-paying job."
Lei Xinyi's face contoured in anger at once. Li Yuan's b*tch. Is that what they are calling her now?
She clenched her teeth and reminding herself that he was drunk. She couldn't really harm him from a phone call anyway, but he could surely cut the call.
Lei Xinyi spat through gritted teeth, "Cut the bulls.h.i.t, I don't have f*cking time for this..."
A chuckle resounded from the other side, cutting her off, "So I thought, being his b*tch would keep you busy."
There was no point in shouting on a drunk man.
She took a calming breath, "The favor. I want to talk about the favor you own me."
"Hmm...Let's see what I can do for a Gold digger b*tch that the world's greatest Magnate can't do."
He was getting on her nerves and she seriously wished that he was in front of her so she could show him the consequences of his words.
"Get me out of the country in the next two weeks."
A more sober voice shouted from the other end, "WHAT THE F*CK??? Isn't the Li Guy loaded? Why would a power-hungry, gold digger leech woman like you want to leave such a pocket?!"
Lei Xinyi threw her head back and groaned, "Just F*cking do your job! And then you are off the hook and remember if you don't repay me my favor, I know better how to collect things that belong to me."
The warning was clear, and He Jin was the last person who could bargain with her. After all,she held a very important thing close to him with her.
"Yeah I get that," Typing was heard from the other side of the phone, "Xinyi Oh Xinyi... I got Australia, North America, Africa..."
Lei Xinyi at once cut him off, "Europe, I want Europe."
"Europe...tsk...tsk. Not possible for another three weeks."
She winced, three weeks were long. She couldn't bear this drama for even a week more but she had no other option, "Okay."
"Okaaaay... so I have France, Slovakia, Estonia, Germany, Moldova, Poland..."
"Moldova."
The choice was easy to make; It was a poor country and would have fewer resources and authorities would have less influence which will give her easy slip-ups and that will be the last place they will search for her.
"Moldova...Moldova... Okay, I have an illegal shipment leaving in 17 days with arms and drugs from the Port in the north. Local Cartel."
"Send me the details."
"Fine, but after this, I don't owe you sh*t." Saying that he hung up.
The man was the last of He Family successors and was very much gay, so he was in no position to offer them an heir.
